A kamado is a traditional Japanese wood or charcoal fired cooker that has a history that spans back 1000's of years. Originally made from clay they are renowned for their insulating properties, ease of temperature control and fantastic results in taste.
Kamado Joe is an American company formed by a group of BBQ fanatics who wished to improve upon the design of the kamado grills that were available at the time. We feel the Kamado Joe represents the best value on the market, buy a Joe and you'll be all set to grill straight away with no need to buy extra accessories (although there are plenty available for those who like a good gadget!) Quality is also exceptional, with high grade cermaic construction, 304 grade stainless steel components and high impact, non perishable composit shelves. They're also very durable but peace of mind is assured as each Kamado Joe comes with a lifetime warrenty.
Kamado's are highly efficient due to the insulating properties and they can run upto 24hrs on quality restuarant grade charcoal and use considerably less than a conventional metal BBQ. The ceramic construction also means a kamado will hold a steady temperature easily, a major factor in good low and slow cooking. "Set it and forget it", a phrase you'll often hear regarding these grills. Again the ceramic construction allows for another major selling point, a kamado will reach very high temperatures safely allowing you to sear a steak with restaurant rivalling results and stonebake authentic tasting wood fired pizza and breads.
A unique selling point of the Kamado Joe is its brilliant Divide and Conquer grill system, a metal frame which sits within the grill and supports heat deflecting plates and grill plates. This allows one side of the grill to be open so you can cook directly over the hot charcoal while having the other side closed off so that you can roast in the indirect heat. Or the entire grill can be set up for direct cooking or indirect cooking.
At The Stove Site we think very highly of the Kamado Joe grills with one of the team, Ryan being very much into barbecuing. We have our own working grill here whcih can frequently be found outside at dinner time cooking away with all sorts of delicious smells omitting from it! Indeed we have had more than a few sales from people getting a smell of Ryans cooking! As we have hands on experience using the grills we are well placed to advice on your purchase. The creations made by Ryan can also be found on our twitter page with a recipes and barbeque techniques section found here.
Kamado Joe also has a fantastic YouTube presence with their staff member John Setzler providing some informative and engaging videos on both recipes and getting the best out of your Kamado Joe in general.
Buying a kamado is a lifestyle purchase and one in which you will not regret.
