About Us

Manor House FireplacesThe Stove Site supply stoves to the general public, installers and stove shops. We hold large stocks for rapid supply and offer free advice on stove selection and installation. We are staffed entirely by family members. At The Stove Site we aim to make shopping for a stove as easy as popping into the corner shop. Unlike most Online companies, we are happy for you to phone up and chat to us.

We are all completely ignorant of high pressure sales techniques, we feel that our obligation is to give honest and accurate information that will enable you to make the right choice rather than being pressurised into buying something you neither need or want. This is the way of working that we feel most comfortable with and our feedback suggests that we are right to think so, a fact also backed up by the length of time we have been in business.

In the latter half of the last century, the decline in the traditional industry of weaving and wool processing meant that many of the old mills became redundant. Most were converted to apartments and housing but the company were fortunate in finding such a property which has made an ideal location for the business. The first floor makes an extremely large showroom and the ground floor the perfect warehouse for storage of 100’s of stoves, available for immediate delivery.

We are situated in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire and were established in 1982. In 1995 we received the National Fireplaces Retailer of the Year Award.

In 2010 we won our first black Labrador award as the Charnwood stoves Northern Dealer of the Year, an award that we were fortunate enough to win on a further 4 occasions. Our black Labrador has become part of a growing litter! All of us have the necessary certificates in product knowledge, gas, wood and solid fuel installation etc., and enjoy 100% positive feedback from our eBay site. We are proud to be an entirely family run business. In the future we plan to maintain and grow our position in the market place, keeping on top of all the latest developments in home heating and continuing to provide the best possible service to our customers.

Wrangler Jeans as a backdrop for their 1994 Christmas advertising campaignFounded in 1982 the company evolved from a background in building and construction. Previous experience provided the necessary skills to restore antique fireplaces and to build the stone fireplaces that were so popular at the time. A particular speciality was the restoration and installation of old cast iron Yorkshire Ranges with working ovens and water boilers. Our involvement with the design and manufacture of period wooden fire surrounds resulted in our showroom being selected by Wrangler Jeans as a backdrop for their 1994 Christmas advertising campaign.

Despite being heavily involved in fireplaces from the past, the company were not afraid to change. In 1992 Rosemary joined husband Keith and the couple identified wood burning stoves, with their efficiency and benefits to the environment, as the future of home heating. Selling stoves both nationally online and in their Huddersfield showroom ensured the company's expansion into the new century. Rosemary and Keith were joined by their son Ryan in 2003 and most recently by his partner Rachel whose injection of enthusiasm and energy have maintained a fresh approach and a readiness to embrace the future.
