Carbon Monoxide (CO) is an odourless, colourless and tasteless poisonous gas, a by-product from burning fuel for cooking or heating.
Toxic CO levels can occur suddenly or build up slowly over time, an alram will sound whenever potentially dangerous levels are reached.
It is recommended to have at least one CO alarm on each floor of your home. Changes to the Building Regulations in October 2010 mean that whenever a new or replacement fixed solid fuel or wood/biomass appliance is installed a carbon monoxide alarm must be fitted in the same room.
